The Kipu CRM offers facilities the option to integrate their tenant with Twilio for SMS capabilities within the system. This integration uses the mobile phone numbers documented in patient and patient contact records, allowing users to communicate with clients directly from the system.
Requirements
To request an SMS integration for your CRM, please provide CRM support with the following data points:
- Twilio Account SID
- Twilio Auth Token
- Twilio Phone Number
- Message Service SID
Preparing SMS Settings
- Using the Global Search Bar, search for your desired prospect/patient record and select them from the search results.
- Scroll down to the Phones section of the patient record. Verify that the phone type is set to mobile, and that yes is selected under OK to SMS.
Texting Patient Records
- From the Patient Information page, click the SMS button in the banner.
- Then select your desired mobile phone number from the drop-down.
- Type in your message to the client in the Message field, then click Send Message.
SMS Replies
- SMS message replies can be found in two areas of the system. The first is reached by clicking on the two chat icons in the site header.

The second is by navigating to the SMS Conversations section located within the patient record. Users can reply to their clients from the SMS Conversations section of the patient record by selecting reply on the corresponding SMS message.
Important: The SMS conversation section has been enhanced with auto-refresh functionality, ensuring immediate display of the latest messages received from the client on the screen.
Notifications
- If you're subscribed to the SMS notification, when the patient's SMS reply comes in, you will receive a notification in the notifications center that the patient has replied.
